Interior Design

  • Most recently a senior living facility, this Federalist building from 1905–1915 is envisioned as a 73-key boutique hotel in the historic Fan District of Richmond. The ground floor will contain two distinctly branded F&B destinations, which will—in addition to serving hotel guests—draw in locals.

The concept draws on early American nostalgia, complete with plaster-like finishes, robust paneling & cabinetry, and finely painted murals throughout. Both the hotel’s public and private spaces will draw from naïve and folk-artistry and feature custom-designed textiles, furniture, and lighting fixtures.

In a small team of designers, developers, procurement managers, and textile designers, my specific responsibilities included: translating concept imagery into interior architecture; managing the Architect of Record; Consultant coordination; millwork design & development; shop drawing review; FF&E selection; custom specification writing; value engineering; and Contractor walkthroughs with colleagues.

  • Located in one of the “Thirteen Sisters,” the tenant in this one-bedroom apartment was looking for a light refresh that felt in-line with the historic nature of the space and their small budget. The original structure harkens back to 1833, when Julia Row was one of the most affluent addresses in the American Sector of New Orleans.

Upgrades included paint selection, FF&E selection to supplement their personal collection, and staging for a photoshoot with Jacqueline Marque Photography.

  • First a church mission, then a brothel, this 52-room boutique hotel opened its doors in 2012 in Downtown Providence in. A decade later, it was due for a refresh of its guest rooms, ground floor restaurant, cafe, speakeasy, and backroom karaoke bar (the only in the city).

Concepting and design development for the refresh focused on the hotel’s deluxe suites and ground floor public spaces. Inspired by the proverbial post-collegiate Grand Tour, French mid-century design, and rich textiles, several iterations were evaluated against construction staging.

My specific responsibilities included: translating concept imagery into interior architecture, suite renovation plans, visualizations, and Contractor walkthroughs with colleagues.

  • As part of a historic rehabilitation project in Charleston, SC, six public restrooms were envisioned as design-forward spaces in their own right. Drawing on the building’s dramatic history, the restrooms were concepted as darker, moodier spaces, where dramatic lighting and classic finishes elevated an otherwise mundane task during an employee’s day at the office.

My specific responsibilities included: moodboarding, selecting and specifying FF&E, design documentation, and responding to Contractor RFIs.
